These records consist of communications, leaflets, and newsletters documenting several events among public school teachers in East Baton Rouge Parish, La., in 1978 and 1979. They include the organization of the East Baton Rouge Parish Association of Educators in the summer of 1978; a failed tax election on January 20, 1979, and a successful one the following May 19 for the purpose of granting pay raises for school employees; and a two-week strike for collective bargaining by East Baton Rouge Parish schoolteachers and maintenance workers in March 1979.
